About me
Hello investor,
About 10 years ago, during a late hour drink, a friend suggested me to start investing in stocks and gave me the book 'One Up on Wall Street' of Peter Lynch. After reading the book - immediately fascinated - I made a basic spreadsheet combining the most basic indicators explained in the book into a single score, which I used to make my investment decisions. The idea of making investment decision based on an algorithm was born.
Also, I wanted to practice some Java, as my programming skills were a bit outdated. So, I started creating a stock screener, based on my Excel. Working hours, evenings and weekends, I got more and more intrigued, addicted by the act of creating something new, something of value to people. Also, I have always been attracted to the idea of creating something all by myself. It seemed to me as the ultimate independence. I let the software evolve gradually, taking the feedback of the users as most important input, always focusing on the product.
After some years of really hard labour, I quit my job and Uncle Stock became my own business. Uncle Stock started to attract more users, and I could turn it into a service that users love and makes a difference for them. I think I can be proud of what I made, giving value investors an affordable, yet excellent fundamental stock screener. I hope you like it.
