Manage queries

Save Query

Purpose:Save the query, so I can run it in the future, without having to redefine it.

Start from the search result list, click Save query. In the dialog, give the query a name and description. It's possible to make the query visible for other users (shared). In that case, it's important to provide a good name and clear description, in English. If you don't, the admin will take the liberty to make your query private. After saving the query, it will appear from now on under the My Area menu. I can run it from there.

Use existing screens

Purpose:Open the top companies that satisfy a set of criteria.

A query is a synonym of a screen. It has a name, and contains criteria. Executing the query will perform a search based on its criteria and return a list of stocks.

The following queries appear as tabs, for quick use:

In the menu bar, Uncle provides a list of interesting queries, that can be a good starting point for stock picking, and can be used as a base for further refinement of the query criteria:

At the right hand side of the query name, you will find a percentage. This percentage is the backtest result, and indicates the yearly prices (and dividend) yield to expect when investing based on the query.

The criteria of a query contain one ranking criterium, and a set of selection criteria. When opening the saved query, Uncle will run the query against the companies in the datastore and show a list with the companies that fulfill the selection criteria, sorted by the ranking criterium. Uncle will show the backtest result or give the possibility to backtest these criteria over the last years.

Select a stock to look at its details at the bottom.

Tip:To quickly get a top list for a sector, industry group, industry or country, enter the beginning of the name in the top left box and pick a hinted name.

Managing Personal Views

Purpose: Customize your stock list table by defining which metrics appear as columns. These customized views can also be applied in the Metrics Viewer within the stock detail panel, allowing you to examine historical metric data.

To create a new view, select "Create view..." from the view dropdown. A dialog will appear, allowing you to define your list of metrics.

Start by naming your view. To add metrics, navigate using the tree structure on the left to find a metric and its sub-metrics. Alternatively, you can search for a specific metric and select one of its sub-metrics. You also have the option to rename the column header. Click "Add" to include the chosen metric in your list of columns.

Please note that not all metrics are available for use as columns in the stock list. Metrics that are not exposed for the stock list will be shown in red. While they won't be searchable or displayed in the stock list, you can still add them to your view; they will be visible in the stock detail panel under Metrics.

You can also remove metrics from your view or rearrange the order. Once satisfied, click "Save and Close." Your new view will now be available in the view dropdown, where you can select or modify it.
